Arizona Veteran Security is recruiting for unarmed emergency management and disaster response security officers. Providing safety and security to our clients and future responses associated with potential natural disasters, manmade disasters, and civil unrest. Responsibilities may include de- escalating tense scenarios, helping with crowd control and reporting any suspicious or dangerous behavior to management or law enforcement.

The ideal candidate must be available to deploy throughout Arizona and United States if needed to travel on a 12-72 hour notice. Deployments typically require a 1-4 week commitment.

These positions are part time, temporary in nature, but long-term hires will be considered.

Our mission is to deploy a rapid security force to whom will provide humanitarian response as well as providing safety and security to disaster victims.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • 21+ years old for non-driving positions.
  • 25+ years old for driving positions.
  • 4+ years experience as a security officer, corrections officer, military, or law enforcement.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or management in emergency management or public safety field
  • Able to travel on a short notice for a minimum of 14 days.
  • Have or qualify for an Arizona Unarmed Guard Card with FBI background check.
  • Valid US State driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Smart cell phone and respond to text alerts of deployments in a timely manner.
  • Working email to receive deployment
  • Must pass a drug test prior to deployment.
  • Must be willing to attend an in-person company paid orientation prior to deployment.
  • Reside in the State of Arizona.
Preferred Licenses/Qualifications

  • CDL license with ability to operate large vehicles in all weather and traffic conditions.
  • Forklift certification
  • Passport, passport card or new Real ID
  • EMT/Paramedic Certification.
  • FEMA/NIMS or other disaster training.
  • Emergency management, disaster response, and/or field operations experience.
  • Past mobilizations and deployments to respond to disasters, including in austere conditions.
  • Formal certifications specific to emergency management, such as Certified Emergency Manager (CEM)
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in criminal justice, disaster or emergency management, business administration, or related field
  • Emergency Operations Center (EOC) activation experience, including those who have served in a Planning, Operations, Logistics response leadership role.
  • Personnel and volunteer management experience, such as experience organizing shelter operations and other field operations for non-profit and/or faith-based disaster organizations (i.e. The American Red Cross).
  • Logistics experience, including in an EOC or field-based environment and those with a background in field-based medical/humanitarian missions.
Minimum Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work up to 12 hours while standing and walking on various surfaces/terrains.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 40+ hours a week with the likelihood of 50+ hours per week
  • Safely climb stairs or ramps in performance of duties
  • Occasionally bend/twist at waist/knees/neck to perform strenuous tasks.
  • Lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Constant use of both hands and arms in reaching/handling/grasping while using phone, notepad, writing reports.
  • Constant use of eyes (correctable vision to normal level required) to observe, read, interact with public and co-workers.
  • Work in various environments including adverse outdoor conditions such as cold, wind, rain or heat.
  • Constant mental alertness and attention to detail.

Minimum Required Skills

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English. Bilingual preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as within a team framework to accomplish objectives under a tight deadline.
  • Must be able to operate a computer using MS Office and/or iOS programs.
  • Able to remain flexible and adapt quickly to changes during each assignment.
  • Work in conditions that may be austere including prolonged exposure to excessive heat and cold, prolonged sun exposure and no electricity, heat or air conditioning.
  • Demonstrated analytic and critical thinking skills.
  • Integrity and professionalism
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as operational needs dictate and be able to travel.

Uniform

Must provide your own:

  • Tan or khaki tactical or BDU pants
  • Black or tan tactical boots
  • Black or tan belt
Suggested additional equipment:

  • Black or tan duty belt
  • Tactical flashlight
  • Tactical gloves
We will suggest additional equipment for job success for each deployment.

We will provide uniform shirts and jackets for each deployment.

Minimum Appearance Standards

  • Must have a professional and clean-cut appearance.
  • No deemed offensive tattoos that cannot be covered up.
  • No facial piercings.
  • Groomed facial hair is allowed
  • Natural hairs colors only
  • Extreme styles and shaping are prohibited.
  • Fingernails may not extend more than 1/4 inch beyond the fingertip.
  • For safety considerations, additional appearance and grooming standards will be required
Pay

$20 per hour base plus daily per diem when deployed.

Possible additional compensation if you possess any of the preferred qualifications, licenses or certifications that relate to the position.

Travel Arrangements

All staff be provided hotel room, ground and flight transportation to and from client locations.

Primary Location

Remote w/ deployment to client sites in Arizona and within the United States. No overseas deployments.
